Treasurer to seek reelection

Halifax County Treasurer Linda S. Foster announced Friday she will seek reelection to a seventh term in November. “It has been an honor and privilege to serve the citizens of our towns and county over the past 25 years as treasurer,” Foster said in making the announcement.

She was appointed county treasurer in August of 1985 following the retirement of former Treasurer Cecil Anderson and was elected to her first full term in November 1986.

“Because of my experience, I feel I am well qualified to seek reelection to this position,” she said.

Over her years serving as treasurer, Foster said it has been “a challenging position” when changes are expected, especially in state and county codes of law.

“We have always tried to do our best to ‘step up to the plate’ in carrying out laws associated with this office or any other changes in the computer system,” she added.

She said the public’s continued support “will be greatly appreciated” as she seeks a seventh term as treasurer.

Currently, Foster is running unopposed for the position of treasurer.
