Fred Mistal resigned from the board of the Halifax County Service Authority (HCSA) effective Jan. 21, according to HCSA Chairman Doug Bowman. “His resignation was due to personal reasons and not related to any action or issue taken by the HCSA board,” Bowman said in a press release issued Friday afternoon.
A statement from Mistal read as follows:
“On Thursday, Jan. 20, 2011, I submitted a formal resignation from the board of the Halifax County Service Authority effective Jan. 21. Having recently submitted affidavits to the state certifying that I would not receive compensation in excess of $1,000 from any entity conducting business with the authority, I was advised to resign my position on the board so as to not jeopardize that obligation. On Jan. 21, I commenced conducting services with a local development project.” (See related story)
Mistal began his service on the HCSA board on July 1, 2007 as one of the founding board members of the reconstituted Halifax County Service Authority.
According to Chairman Bowman, Mistal’s experience with utility management and operations was “most beneficial to the newly consolidated public water and sewer system.
“Fred was an active and resourceful board member, and his expertise was greatly appreciated,” Bowman added.
