Halifax man faces assault with intent to maim charge

A 20-year-old Halifax man is facing a felony assault with intent to maim charge stemming from an incident that allegedly occurred Dec. 19, according to Halifax County Sheriff’s Office records.

Blake Carden Crews of Dudley Road was arrested on the charge Wednesday.

Cpl. P. C. Clayton served the warrant.

• John Calvin Torian, 67, of Shepherd’s Gate, South Boston faces a felony charge of possessing a firearm while being a convicted felon.

The charge stems from an incident that is alleged to have occurred on April 23, 2009.

Officer J. O. Tanner Jr. served the warrant on Tuesday.

•  Gerren Delquan Walton, 27, of Lincoln Drive, South Boston faces misdemeanor charges of possession of marijuana and driving on a suspended or revoked license.

The charges stem from an incident that is alleged to have occurred on May 28.

Officer Tanner served the warrants on Tuesday.

•  Kenneth M. Perkins, 61, of Love Shop Road, South Boston faces a misdemeanor charge of assault and battery stemming from an incident that is alleged to have occurred on Wednesday.

Cpl. Clayton served the warrant on the same day.

•  Joaoquin Gonzales, 49, of Melon Road, Sutherlin faces a misdemeanor charge of assault and battery stemming from an incident that is alleged to have occurred on Jan. 1.

Cpl. C. S. Yeatts served the warrant on Friday.

•  Ricky Carlton Walker, 32, of Old Cluster Springs Road, South Boston faces a misdemeanor charge of drunk in public stemming from an incident that is alleged to have occurred on Thursday.

Officer W. G. Nunn served the warrant on the same day.

•  Gregory Jerome Hamlett, 31, of Quarles School Trail in Nathalie faces a misdemeanor charge of trespassing stemming from an incident that is alleged to have occurred on Nov. 20 of last year.

Officer W. G. Yancey served the warrant on Thursday.

•  Harold Davis Link, 47, of Carrington Trail, Alton faces a misdemeanor charge of contempt of court stemming from an incident that is alleged to have occurred on Sept. 20 of last year.

Cpl. Yeatts served the warrant on Friday.

•  Carlton Ray Mitchell Jr., 33, of Philpott Road Lot 33, South Boston faces a misdemeanor charge of failure to appear in court stemming from an incident that is alleged to have occurred on Tuesday.

Officer Nunn served the warrant on Wednesday.

•  George Edward White, 56, of Whitt Loop, Alton faces a misdemeanor charge of contempt of court stemming from an incident that is alleged to have occurred Dec. 15 of last year.

Officer Tanner served the warrant on Tuesday.

•  Dolly Mae Hamlett Coleman, 49, of Chatham Road, Halifax faces a misdemeanor charge of unlawfully parking in a handicapped parking space stemming from an incident that is alleged to have occurred on Oct. 24 of last year.

Officer S. Edmonds served the warrant on Wednesday.

• Claudette Hankins Lipscomb, 48, of Ragland Loop, Halifax faces a misdemeanor charge of parking in a fire lane at school stemming from an incident that is alleged to have occurred on Oct. 25 of last year.

Officer Edmonds served the warrant on Wednesday.

•  In other county police reports, Sherry Wilborne of Morton’s Ferry Road, Clover, reported that sometime over the past few days, someone stole two horse-drawn haycutters and some tin roofing from her property, according to Sheriff Stanley Noblin.

Dep. Tommy Sargent is investigating the theft.
