In 1999 the county hired Jones-Bowen as an emergency services dispatcher for the sheriff’s office.
The two 911 centers were consolidated in 2004, and shortly after that she was promoted to shift supervisor, he added.
Jones-Bowen has served as interim director twice during the last two years.
She is married to Lt. Seth Bowen of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office, and they live in the Town of Halifax.
She also is a member of the Halifax Volunteer Fire Department and the Halifax County Search and Rescue Team and Dive Team.
Jones-Bowen was selected for the position from a pool of 17 applicants, Phillips said.
