Virgilina man faces multiple drug charges

A 55-year-old Virgilina man is facing multiple felony drug charges, according to Virginia State Police Special Agent Mark Campbell, coordinator of the Halifax/South Boston Regional Narcotics and Gang Task Force.

Marvin Lee McCray of Cemetery Road was arrested Monday on charges brought by the task force, including five felony counts of distribution of cocaine and three felony counts of conspiring to distribute cocaine, Campbell said.

McCray also was charged with two misdemeanor counts of contempt of court.

Halifax County Sheriff’s Deputy J. O. Tanner transported McCray to the magistrate at the Halifax County Adult Detention Center where he was held without bond, Campbell said.

The task force expressed appreciation to the citizens of Halifax County, Town of South Boston, Town of Halifax and the community of Virgilina for their support and information regarding this case.

• In other law enforcement matters, a 22-year-old Halifax woman is facing three misdemeanor charges, according to sheriff’s office records.

Claudia Renee Barksdale of Back Street was charged with DUI, driving after having her operator’s license suspended or revoked and refusing to take a blood test.

The offenses allegedly occurred Saturday, and Deputy J. P. Adams served the warrants the same day.

• Michael Devon Lawson, 18, Alderson Avenue, South Boston, was charged with misdemeanor vandalism and misdemeanor DUI.
The offenses allegedly occurred Saturday, and Sgt. T. C. Spencer served the warrants the same day.

• Chelsea Nicole Wilborn, 18, Florence Avenue, Virgilina, was charged with misdemeanor assault and battery and misdemeanor vandalism.

The offenses allegedly occurred Saturday, and Deputy C. S. Hudson served the warrants Sunday.

• Brooke Nicole Akers, 23, Hog Wallow Road, Nathalie, was charged with misdemeanor assault and battery.

The offense allegedly occurred Saturday, and Sgt. Spencer served the warrant Sunday.

•  David Scott Lester, 33, Liberty Road, Nathalie, was charged with misdemeanor assault and battery of a family or household member.

The offense allegedly occurred Friday, and Deputy J. M. Burton served the warrant the same day.

• Tiffany Ann Honaker Lester, 24, West Store Road, Halifax, was charged with misdemeanor assault and battery of a family or household member.

The offense allegedly occurred Friday, and Deputy Burton served the warrant the same day.

• Jermery Lamar Majors, 22, Moorman’s Lane, Nathalie, was charged with misdemeanor assault and battery of a family or household member.

The offense allegedly occurred Friday, and Deputy S. Edmonds served the warrant the same day.

•  Sandra Denise Faucette, 45, Black Walnut Road, Clover, was charged with misdemeanor trespassing.

The offense allegedly occurred Saturday, and Deputy Hudson served the warrant the same day.

• John Henry Cannon III, 29, North Terry’s Bridge Road, Halifax, was charged with misdemeanor violation of the provisions of a juvenile protection order.

The offense allegedly occurred Friday, and Deputy Hudson served the warrant Saturday.

• Dick Melvin Walker Jr., 42, L.P. Bailey Memorial Highway, Halifax, was charged with misdemeanor trespassing.

The offense allegedly occurred Monday, and Deputy T. B. Sargent served the warrant the same day.

• Shenique Terry, 18, Pine Trail, Halifax, was charged with misdemeanor using profane or threatening language to another over the telephone.

The offense allegedly occurred Nov. 21, and Deputy Edmonds served the warrant Sunday.

•  Lewis Francis of Jeremy Creek Road, Sutherlin, was charged with misdemeanor allowing animals (hogs) to run at large.

The offense allegedly occurred Nov. 18, and Deputy Hudson served the warrant Sunday.

• Taylor Ann Jones, 18, Coleman’s Ferry Road, Randolph, was charged with misdemeanor DUI.

The offense allegedly occurred Saturday, and Sgt. Spencer served the warrant the same day.

• Steven Ray Keatts, 29, Good Trail, South Boston, was charged with misdemeanor failure to appear in court.

The offense allegedly occurred Dec. 14, and Cpl. P. C. Clayton served the warrant Sunday.

• Frank Junior Scarberry, 28, Cowford Road, Halifax, was charged with misdemeanor drunk in public.

The offense allegedly occurred Friday, and Sgt. D. H. Barksdale served the warrant the same day.

• Grayson Lee Tucker, 51, Pine Ridge Trail, Vernon Hill, was charged with misdemeanor DUI.

The offense allegedly occurred Friday, and Deputy Adams served the warrant the same day.

•  Darrell Lynn Cash, 39, Howard P. Anderson Road, Halifax, was charged with misdemeanor contempt of court.

The offense allegedly occurred Nov. 15, and Cpl. Clayton served the warrant Friday.
