Halifax police have charged 27-year-old Rickie L. Knight of Alton with grand larceny after a car that was stolen in Halifax was recovered in Danville.
At approximately 5:40 p.m. Monday, a maroon 2006 Ford Fusion was taken from the parking lot of the Halifax Post Office, according to Halifax Police Lieutenant D. D. Irby.
The car, which is owned by Puckett Auto Sales of South Boston, had been left running and unlocked in the parking lot, Irby said.
Danville police recovered the vehicle and its driver on Main Street near Riverside Drive around 1 a.m. Tuesday, the lieutenant said.
Irby charged Knight with felony grand larceny.
At approximately 1:45 p.m. Tuesday Halifax police were called to the Jiffy Store in Halifax for a report of trespassing and disorderly conduct.
Lt. Irby arrested 19-year-old Danta O. Clardy of Halifax when Clardy refused to leave the lot after being told to do so by the store manager and Irby.
Irby said he released Clardy on a summons.
• In other law enforcement matters, a 37-year-old Scottsburg man is facing two misdemeanor charges, according to Halifax County Sheriff’s Office records.
Russell Frankie Short III of Bethel Road was charged with two misdemeanor counts of driving while his license, permit or privilege to drive is suspended or revoked.
One offense allegedly occurred Dec. 25, and the other allegedly occurred Tuesday. Deputy T. H. Clarke served the warrants Wednesday.
• Brooks Deshaun Boyd, 27, Lennig Road, Nathalie, was charged with misdemeanor using profane or threatening language to another person over the telephone.
The offense allegedly occurred Nov. 12, and Cpl. P. C. Clayton served the warrant Tuesday.
