A 36-year-old Virgilina man was injured Tuesday afternoon in a hunting incident, according to Conservation Police Officer Brandon Harris.

The man was hunting with two companions on Bold Springs Road when he was struck in the left side by a buckshot pellet around 2:30 p.m., Harris said.

Harris said the victim’s hunting companions took him by personal vehicle to Boston Lumber Company to meet emergency personnel, who then transported him to Halifax Regional Hospital.

Harris said the incident is still under investigation.
