No one was injured when fire damaged a house on Gravitt Street in South Boston on Saturday afternoon at about 3.
According to a South Boston Fire Department spokesperson, firefighters responded to a fire at a residence owned by John Richardson located at 603 Gravitt St.
When firefighters arrived on the scene fire was showing from the roof line, the spokesman said.
Three trucks and 14 firefighters from South Boston Fire Department, assisted by Halifax Volunteer Fire Department firefighters, battled the blaze for almost two hours before bringing it under control, the spokesman said.
He added the fire, unknown origin, resulted in an estimated $25,000 in damage to the structure valued at $80,000.
Authorities said they were unsure if Richardson was at home at the time of the fire.
