Deputies probe theft of copper wire, vandalism

Halifax County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating the theft of copper wire over the weekend and a recent act of vandalism, according to Sheriff Stanley Noblin.

Someone cut a lock on a Dominion Power truck left in the old Daystrom Furniture parking lot over the weekend, Noblin said. The thief stole a large amount of copper wire.

Deputy W. G. Nunn is the investigating officer.

Someone vandalized a mobile home and a camper belonging to Debbie Harmon, sometime over the past few days, the sheriff said. The property is located near the 1100 block of Old Mill Rd., Halifax.

Windows were broken out, a door was damaged, and paint was sprayed on the sides of the camper, the sheriff said.
Deputy J.M. Burton is the investigating officer.

In other law enforcement matters, 45-year-old Wesbert Andre of Huell Matthews Highway, South Boston was charged with a misdemeanor alcohol safety violation, according to sheriff’s office records.

The offense allegedly occurred Oct. 15, 2009, and Sgt. T. C. Spencer served the warrant Tuesday.
