Thieves target guns, jewelry, copper pipe

Guns, jewelry and copper pipe were the targets of thieves at two county residences, according to Halifax County Sheriff Stanley Noblin.

Someone pried open a basement window to gain entry to a home belonging to Mary Cook on Hump’s Trail in South Boston, Noblin said.

Three guns and an undisclosed amount of jewelry were taken from the residence, he added.
Deputy J. O. Tanner is the investigating officer.

Sometime over the past two weeks, someone cut and pulled up approximately 40-feet of copper pipe from the heating and air conditioning unit of a residence belonging to George Moore on Chatham Road, Halifax, the sheriff said.

Cpl. C. S. Yeatts is investigating.

w In other law enforcement matters, a 20-year-old Nathalie man is facing multiple felony and misdemeanor charges, according to sheriff’s office records.

Melquan Rashaun Carr of Drive In Road was charged with one count each of felony burglary and felony grand larceny. He also was charged with one count each of misdemeanor vandalism and misdemeanor contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

The offenses allegedly occurred April 25, and Deputy W. G. Nunn served the warrants Thursday.

w Bryan Derrell Davis, 26, and Crystal Lenoir Pumphrey, 24, both of Beulah Road, Nathalie were charged with felony obstructing justice-resisting arrest. Davis also was charged with misdemeanor contempt of court.

Davis’ felony offense allegedly occurred Oct. 16, and the misdemeanor offense allegedly occurred June 29.

Pumphrey’s offense allegedly occurred Sunday.

Deputy Tanner served all three warrants Sunday.

• Lamarr Alan Bowman, 25, Clays Mill Road, Halifax, was charged with two counts of felony burglary.

One offense allegedly occurred July 27, and the other offense allegedly occurred Friday. Deputy J. P. Adams served the Friday warrant the same day, and Investigator M. A. Womack served the other warrant Saturday.

Bowman also was charged with one count each of misdemeanor petty larceny and misdemeanor vandalism.

Those offenses allegedly occurred July 27, and Investigator Womack served the warrants Saturday.

• Leaveil Jamal Terry, 27, Bethel Road, Halifax, was charged with one count of felony burglary, one count of misdemeanor petty larceny and one count of misdemeanor vandalism.

The offenses allegedly occurred July 27, and Investigator Womack served the warrants Tuesday.

• Antwan Terrell Sutherlin, 43, Rosewood Avenue, Richmond, was charged with being a fugitive from justice on a felony larceny charge in Maryland.

Deputy Tanner served a warrant on Sutherlin Saturday.

• Maurice Anthony Faucette, 28, Black Walnut Road, Clover, was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance.

The offense allegedly occurred March 5, and Capt. J. K. Henderson served the warrant Sunday.

• Timothy Allen Weatherford, 46, Cowford Road, Halifax, was charged with misdemeanor assault and battery of a family or household member.

The offense allegedly occurred Thursday, and Deputy Tanner served the warrant Friday.

• Tammy Ann Hudson, 20, Acorn Road, Nathalie, was charged with misdemeanor assault and battery.

The offense allegedly occurred Nov. 8, and Cpl. P. C. Clayton served the warrant Thursday.

• Shaniqua C. Bowman, 18, Cole Lane, Scottsburg, was charged with misdemeanor assault and battery.

The offense allegedly occurred Nov. 8, and Cpl. Yeatts served the warrant Sunday.

• Natalie Elam of Hamilton Boulevard, South Boston was charged with misdemeanor assault and battery.

The offense allegedly occurred Monday, and Deputy S. Edmonds served the warrant that night.

• Betty Jean Adams, 51, Cowford Road, Halifax, was charged with misdemeanor vandalism.

The offense allegedly occurred Thursday, and Cpl. Clayton served the warrant that night.

•  Mary E. Dunkley-Johnson, 46, Henderson Road, Alton, was charged with misdemeanor parking in a fire lane at a school.

The offense allegedly occurred Aug. 18, and Deputy C. S. Hudson served the warrant Thursday.

• Ralph Wayne Honeycutt, 44, Cherry Hill Church Road, South Boston, was charged with misdemeanor parking in a fire lane.

The offense allegedly occurred Nov. 9, and Cpl. Clayton served the warrant Thursday.

• Venus Tucker Harris, 37, Chestnut Creek Road, Halifax, was charged with misdemeanor parking in a fire lane at a school.

The offense allegedly occurred Feb. 7, and Deputy Edmonds served the warrant Thursday.

• Sherman Seawell Brooks Jr., 50, Mt. Laurel Road, Clover, was charged with misdemeanor parking in a fire lane at a school.

The offense allegedly occurred Aug. 16, and Deputy Edmonds served the warrant Thursday.

• Staci Williams Epps, 37, Ball Park Loop, Halifax, was charged with misdemeanor contempt of court.

The offense allegedly occurred Nov. 5, and Deputy Tanner served the warrant Friday.

•  Jeremy Dontray Polk, 22, Poplar Creek Street, South Boston, was charged with misdemeanor contempt of court.

The offense allegedly occurred Oct. 6, and Deputy Tanner served the warrant Friday.
