The South Boston Industrial Development Authority (IDA) and Halifax County Service Authority (HCSA) have agreed to design and construct an office and maintenance services facility in Houghton Industrial Park, South Boston Town Manager Ted Daniel announced Thursday. Under the agreement, requests for proposals have been submitted for both financing the facility and for design and construction.
Proposals will be completed by Nov. 29, according to the town manager.
The request for financing proposal seeks a commitment for construction not to exceed $700,000 and 15-year fixed rate financing, said Daniel.
“Following successful and acceptable proposals for both financing and design, the two authorities will proceed to build the facility on Lot “J” in Houghton Industrial Park,” Daniel commented.
“The South Boston IDA will finance the project, and the Service Authority intends to enter into a lease/purchase agreement that will result in ownership of the property,” Daniel said.
HCSA Executive Director Willie Jones said the new facility “will allow consolidation of several of our operations in a new, modern facility and contribute to increased efficiency in our service delivery to our customers.”
“Our IDA is pleased to be able to assist the Service Authority in both locating the facility in Houghton Park and play a key role in financing the facility for the Service Authority,” said Daniel.
“They have a lot of projects and financing requirements under way right now, and it is our pleasure to assist them in any way we can,” he added.
