Veterans Day parade to be held Saturday in South Boston

A Veterans Day Parade will be held in downtown South Boston Saturday at 11 a.m. The parade will feature numerous units and dignitaries who will speak in Constitution Square following the parade including past 5th District commanders from the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion, according to parade coordinator Cary Ford.

Leading the parade will be the Halifax County High School Blue Comet Marching Band and JROTC unit.

Also featured in Saturday’s Veterans Day parade will be floats, fire department vehicles, motorcycles and antique cars and trucks.

Invited guests and featured speakers will be Past VFW State Commander Tommy Hines and Past 5th District American Legion Commanders Wayne Bowen and William Stephens who will be at Constitution Square following the parade.

Ford said soft drinks and stew prepared by the Vietnam Veterans Association will be available for purchase in Constitution Square.
