Clover man faces multiple charges

A 35-year-old Clover man is facing multiple charges, including four felony drug charges, according to Halifax County Sheriff’s Office reports.

Dwayne Edward Long of Clover Road was charged with four felony counts of distribution of a controlled substance. He also was charged with one misdemeanor count of contempt of court and one count of failure to appear in court.

The felony drug offenses allegedly occurred June 1, and the contempt offense allegedly occurred Sept. 3. The failure to appear offense allegedly occurred Feb. 6, 2009.

Deputy J. O. Tanner served the felony drug warrants and contempt warrant on Friday, and Deputy C. S. Hudson served the failure to appear warrant Monday.

• Brian Jermaine Womack, 27, Crenshaw Lane, South Boston, was charged with three misdemeanors, including assault and battery, trespassing and petty larceny.

The offenses allegedly occurred Sunday, and Deputy J. M. Burton served the warrants Monday.

• Joseph C. Whittington III, 20, Shepherd Street, South Boston, was charged with three misdemeanors, including discharging a firearm in the city, recklessly handling firearm and allowing a dog to run at large.

The offenses allegedly occurred Oct. 7, and Deputy Burton served the warrants Friday.

•  Johnelle Chrystene Powell, 22, James D. Hagood Highway, South Boston, was charged with misdemeanor assault and battery of a family or household member.

The offense allegedly occurred Sunday, and Sgt. D. H. Barksdale served the warrant that night.

•  James Michael Perkins, 28, Grove Avenue, South Boston, was charged with misdemeanor assault and battery of a family or household member.

The offense allegedly occurred Sunday, and Sgt. Barksdale served the warrant Monday.

•  Oliver Whitaker, 66, Bold Springs Road, South Boston, was charged with misdemeanor assault and battery.
The offense allegedly occurred Sunday, and Deputy C. A. Bates served the warrant Monday.

•  Jennifer Darlene Martin, 26, Poplar Creek Street, South Boston, was charged with misdemeanor contempt of court.
The offense allegedly occurred Oct. 6, and Deputy T. H. Clarke served the warrant Friday.
