South Boston father, son face assault charges

A South Boston man and his son are facing felony assault charges, according to Halifax County Sheriff’s Office records.

Timothy Wallace Puryear, 49, and Timothy Brad Puryear, 28, both of Link Puryear Road, were charged with one count each of felony assault with intent to maim or kill. In addition, the elder Puryear was charged with felony distribution of a controlled substance.

The assault offenses allegedly occurred Monday, and the drug offense allegedly occurred June 2. Cpl. P. C. Clayton served the warrant on the younger Puryear and the drug warrant on the elder Puryear Tuesday, and Lt. S. M. Bowen served the assault warrant on the elder Puryear, also on Tuesday.

A third man, Ricky Carlton Walker, 31, Old Cluster Springs Road, South Boston, also was charged with felony assault with intent to maim or kill in relation to the incident that allegedly occurred Monday.

Deputy C. S. Hudson served the warrant Tuesday.

• Matthew Thomas Mayberry, 22, Deercreek Drive, Lynchburg, was charged with felony robbery and felony assault with intent to maim or kill.

The offenses allegedly occurred June 8, and another law enforcement agency served the warrants Wednesday.

• Joshua Arron Burnett, 31, Finch Drive, Danville, was charged with felony larceny-shoplifting merchandise valued at more than $200. Burnett also was charged with felony fraud-obtaining $200 or more by false pretense.

The shoplifting offense allegedly occurred April 28 of last year, and the fraud offense allegedly occurred April 28 of this year. Another law enforcement agency served the warrants Wednesday.

• Cynthia L. Clayton, 39, Shady Grove Church Road, Virgilina, was charged with misdemeanor assault and battery.

The offense allegedly occurred Aug. 17, and Deputy J. M. Burton served the warrant Wednesday.

• Andrew Mark Lankford, 41, Guilltown Road, Clover, was charged with misdemeanor reckless driving-speeding.

The offense allegedly occurred March 7, and Cpl. C. S. Yeatts served the warrant Wednesday.

• Michael M. Hill, 18, Main Street, Halifax, was charged with misdemeanor drunk in public.

Halifax Police Officer W. G. Yancey served the warrant Tuesday.

• Reginald Jerome Thomas, 45, South Street, Roxboro, was served a capias warrant alleging he violated the conditions of his probation.

The offense allegedly occurred Aug. 12, and Cpl. Clayton served the capias Tuesday.

• Ronnie Lee Wilbourn, 55, Birch Elmo Road, South Boston, was charged with misdemeanor failure to appear in court.

The offense allegedly occurred Aug. 24, and Cpl. Yeatts served the warrant Wednesday.
