Commonwealth’s Secretary of Education visits South Boston

Virginia’s Secretary of Education Gerard Robinson and Deputy Secretary of Education Laura Fornash recently visited the Southern Virginia Higher Education Center (SVHEC) in South Boston.

Secretary Robinson and Deputy Secretary Fornash met with SVHEC board of trustees’ members Delegate James Edmunds and Delegate Donald Merricks as well as members of the SVHEC’s administrative staff.

During their visit, the secretary and deputy secretary had an opportunity to learn about the SVHEC’s programs, partners and signature Business of Art & Design programming.

They also toured the SVHEC’s current facility and the Innovation Center.

The Innovation Center currently is being renovated to house the SVHEC’s Workforce Assessment & Advancement Department, Business of Art & Design programming and a Research & Development Center for Advanced Manufacturing and Energy Efficiency.

The SVHEC is advancing the region by providing educational partnerships and opportunities.
