A 44-year-old Roxboro man was injured Tuesday morning when his motorcycle struck a deer in the Virgilina area, state police said. Trooper D. J. Cline reported Edward Caryl Gibson was injured when the 2008 Kawasaki Vulcan 900 he was operating struck and killed a six-point buck that ran into the road in the path of the motorcycle.
EMS personnel transported Gibson to the hospital, where he was reported in fair condition Tuesday afternoon, according to a hospital spokesperson.
The crash occurred at approximately 6:25 a.m. Tuesday on Route 49, one-half mile from the Mecklenburg County line.
Trooper Cline estimated damage to the Kawasaki at $5,000.
A 50-year-old Baskerville woman was injured in a two-vehicle crash Monday afternoon, according to South Boston police.
Lt. D. W. Barker said Cheryl Hoffman was injured when the 2001 Toyota Tundra pickup she was driving was struck from behind by a 1999 Buick LeSabre driven by 80-year-old Catherine Satterfield of Halifax. Barker said the Tundra had stopped to turn left into the Hupps Mill Shopping Center parking lot when it was struck.
EMS personnel transported Hoffman to the hospital where she was treated for her injuries and released, a hospital spokesperson said.
The accident occurred at 1:20 p.m. Monday on Hamilton Boulevard, approximately 300-feet east of Halifax Road.
Lt. Barker said investigating Officer J. B. Throckmorton estimated damages at $2,500 to the Buick and $1,500 to the Tundra pickup. Officer Throckmorton charged Satterfield with driver inattention.
A 44-year-old Randolph woman was injured in a two-vehicle accident Friday afternoon in South Boston, town police said.
Lt. Barker said Cheryl Ferrell was driving a 1994 Buick and attempted to make a left turn into the Gas House parking lot. Barker said Ferrell passed into oncoming traffic, and a 1995 Chevrolet pickup driven by a 16-year-old Sutherlin girl struck the Buick.
EMS personnel transported Ferrell to the hospital where she was treated for her injuries and released, according to a hospital spokesperson.
The crash occurred at 3:18 p.m. Friday on Old Halifax Road (Route 129), 100-feet west of High School Circle.
Lt. Barker said investigating Officer J. C. Berry estimated damages to each vehicle at $3,000. Officer Berry charged Ferrell with failure to yield the right of way.
Neither driver was injured in a two-vehicle crash Friday night near the site of an earlier accident, town police said.
Lt. Barker said a 2000 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by 21-year-old Shantize Richardson of South Boston was traveling eastbound on Old Halifax Road and attempted to turn into the Wendy’s entrance at Walmart.
Barker said Richardson turned in front of a 1999 Honda Accord driven by 20-year-old Marinthia Wolford of Nathalie.
The Accord struck the side of the Tahoe, Barker said.
The accident occurred at 8:35 p.m. Friday on Old Halifax Road at its intersection with High School Circle.
Lt. Barker said investigating Officer J. M. Utt estimated damages at $1,500 to the Accord and $200 to the Tahoe.
Officer Utt charged Richardson with failure to yield the right of way, and he charged Wolford with driving after her operator’s license had been suspended or revoked.
