Governor’s wife coming to VIR to spotlight woman entrepreneur

Virginia First Lady Maureen McDonnell, wife of Gov. Bob McDonnell, is slated to visit VIRginia International Raceway this afternoon to recognize VIR managing partner Connie Nyholm as part of her FLITE program. FLITE, First Lady’s Initiatives Team Effort, is designed to recognize programs, activities, organizations and individuals that celebrate a “Commonwealth of Opportunity” — a theme of the McDonnell administration.

Two major areas of interest for the First Lady and highlighted in her FLITE program are Women in Business and Tourism.

Today the First Lady is thrilled to help spotlight the success of Nyholm as a woman entrepreneur and to encourage visitors to come to VIR.

During her visit today, the First Lady will visit the Patriot Course at VIR where she is scheduled to take some laps in a Volkswagen Jetta TDI Cup racecar. A brief reception with presentations is scheduled to follow immediately afterward at the Oak Tree Tavern.
