The Halifax County Service Authority (HCSA) board is expected to review proposed water and sewer rates at its monthly meeting Thursday at 3:30 p.m. in the public meeting room of the Mary Bethune Office Complex. The board is slated to approve a resolution of support for an application for a State and Tribal Assistance Grant (STAG) as part of the overall funding package for Rural Development.
HCSA board members are scheduled to address consideration of an application for funding for proposed projects on Cowford Road and Leigh Street.
The project on Cowford Road would convert the old Halifax wastewater treatment plant to a pumping station. The Leigh Street project would put in a facility to take backwash water back through the Maple Avenue wastewater treatment plant to be cleaned before entering the Dan River.
HCSA Executive Director Willie Jones is slated to update board members on the Banister Shores waterline. Jones also is expected to discuss the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality consent order allowing continued operation at the Maple Avenue wastewater treatment plant until 2013, contingent upon upgrade of the facility.
Jones also is expected to update the board on upgrade design of the Maple Avenue wastewater treatment plant.
The HCSA board is scheduled to go into closed session prior to adjourning in order to discuss contractual negotiations with other entities.
