Police: Trucks, Equipment Stolen

The Halifax County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the theft of a pair of work vehicles and equipment from Charles Anderson Lawn Care.

Captain Steve Cassada said Deputy T.H. Clarke was called to Charles Anderson Lawn Care on J.D. Hagood Highway Friday morning.

Cassada reported that someone had cut a chain on a locked gate leading into a lot behind the business and then stole a 2003 GMC pickup and a 1992 Ford dual wheel pickup, each vehicle white in color.

The GMC pickup was attached to an enclosed trailer containing a variety of equipment, according to Cassada, including two X-Mark (zero turn) lawn mowers; two Stihl chainsaws; two Echo string trimmers; one Echo entrenching tool; four Echo (back pack) blowers; two Echo hedge trimmers; two hand-held sprayers; two tool boxes; one air tank; two water coolers; five gas cans and several hard hats.

Keys were left in both vehicles, according to Cassada, who added a national BOL was issued for the missing items.

Hillsborough, N.C., police recovered the GMC pickup and trailer in Hillsborough on Saturday, but none of the items on the trailer has been recovered, Cassada added.

As of presstime yesterday, the Ford pickup also had not been recovered, the captain said.
