Area law enforcement authorities last week confiscated over $1.8 million in marijuana plants during “Operation Greenthumb,” according to Mark T. Campbell, coordinator of the Halifax/South Boston Regional Narcotics and Gang Task Force.
The Halifax/South Boston Regional Narcotics and Gang Task Force received assistance from the Virginia State Police – G.I.A.N.T. Team, Pittsylvania County Sheriffs Office, and Danville Police Department in conducting the drug confiscation operation that covered six or seven different locations across the county, Campbell said.
“A large amount of marijuana plants were recovered with a street value of over $1,872,000,” he said, adding arrests are expected to be made as part of the operation continues in the near future.
Multiple investigations are continuing as part of “Operation Greenthumb,” Campbell added.
The drug task force coordinator expressed appreciation to the citizens of Halifax County, the Town of Halifax, and the Town of South Boston who supported “Operation Greenthumb” and provided information.
“It shows that working together as one we can accomplish much,” Campbell said.
