Halifax County High School’s Class of 2010 Commencement Exercises will get under way Friday evening at 6 p.m. in the school’s gymnasium.
Admission is by ticket only, but the commencement will be broadcast on Comcast Channel 18, according to HCHS Principal Albert Randolph.
Graham Keith Bryant, Fallon Olivia Farmer and Megan Tyler Owen will deliver the commencement address.
Principal Randolph is stressing student participation again this year, and also included on the program are Senior Class President Brandi LeShelle Winstead and National Honor Society President Grace Rose Gillis-Crouch.
The Symphonic Band will perform the national Anthem.
Superintendent of Schools Paul Stapleton and Dr. John J. Cavan, president of Southside Virginia Community College, will recognize students who have earned the Associate of Arts and Science degree.
Following the commencement addresses, Randolph will recognize the “Top Ten” seniors in the Class of 2010.
Stapleton and Deputy Superintendent Larry Clark will then present diplomas.
The Class of 2010 is dedicating the service to Zachary Tyler Hudson in memoriam.
Senior class officers include Brandi LeShelle Winstead, president; Daniesha Shante Carr, vice president; Danyell Shaonna Crosby, secretary; LaMar Cameron Holmes, reporter; Graham Keith Bryant, sergeant-at-arms; and Tairakisha LaQuitta Ballou, treasurer.
