Police: Victims Robbed At Gunpoint In Home Invasion

An armed masked man kicked open the front door of a Nathalie home and robbed the occupants at gunpoint early Thursday morning, according to Halifax County Sheriff Stanley Noblin.

Deputies were called to the Lennig Road home of Phyllis Francisco to investigate the home invasion and robbery around 4:45 a.m. Thursday, Noblin said.

Francisco reported she and two family members were asleep when an intruder dressed all in black and wearing a black ski mask and gloves kicked open the door and entered the house, the sheriff said.

The intruder pointed a handgun at the occupants and made them lie down on the floor, Noblin said. The man left the residence after taking Francisco’s pocketbook containing an undetermined amount of cash and other personal papers, he added.

A sheriff’s office K-9 unit was called to the scene, but the tracking dog lost the scent after a few hundred feet, Noblin said. Officers with the Halifax Police Department also responded to the scene to assist. The sheriff said investigators are continuing to work on the case and expect to make an arrest soon.

w In other sheriff’s office matters, deputies are investigating the theft of a motor off an air compressor, Noblin said.

Raymond Poindexter of Clays Mill Road, Halifax reported the theft of the motor sometime Thursday evening or Friday morning. The air compressor was located at Poindexter’s shop adjacent to his residence, the sheriff said.

Anyone with information about these crimes is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 434-476-3334.
