Gretna Man Faces Charges

A 27-year-old Gretna man is facing three felony and two misdemeanor charges, according to Halifax County Sheriff’s Office records.

Jonathan Lavar Barksdale of Iona Drive was charged with felony distribution of a controlled substance, felony stealing a firearm and felony possession of a firearm while in possession of certain controlled substances. Those offenses allegedly occurred Dec. 4 of last year.

Barksdale also was charged with two misdemeanor counts of contempt of court. One of those offenses allegedly occurred Feb. 26, and the other allegedly occurred March 5.

Deputy W. G. Nunn served the warrants Friday.

• Larry Jerome Stovall, 56, East Hyco Road, South Boston, was charged with two counts of felony grand larceny.

The offenses allegedly occurred March 1, and Deputy Nunn served the warrants Thursday.

• Brancho Danquez White, 37, Union Church Road, South Boston, was charged with misdemeanor petty larceny and misdemeanor trespassing.
The offenses allegedly occurred May 5, and Cpl. T. K. Redd served the warrants Thursday.

• Andrew Hankins, 26, Bostick Trail, Halifax, was charged with misdemeanor assault and battery of a family or household member. That offense allegedly occurred Feb. 9.

Hankins also was charged with misdemeanor contempt of court. That offense allegedly occurred Jan. 29.

Halifax Police Lt. D. D. Irby served the warrants Monday.

• Lawanda D. Chandler, 37, Bane Street, South Boston, was charged with felony vandalism.

The offense allegedly occurred March 6, and South Boston Police Officer T. W. Bush served the warrant Sunday night.

• Amanda Woolard Jordan, 30, Linden Place, South Boston, was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance.

The offense allegedly occurred Oct. 5 of last year, and Cpl. Redd served the warrant Monday.

• Ralph Edward Corelle, 56, Birch Court, South Boston, was charged with misdemeanor brandishing a firearm.

The offense allegedly occurred Sunday, and Sgt. Q. W. Clark served the warrant that night.

• Ronnie L. Elliott, 55, Virgie Cole Road, South Boston, was charged with misdemeanor making threats to another over the telephone.

The offense allegedly occurred March 8, and Cpl. C. S. Yeatts served the warrant Thursday night.

• Michael Lamont Miles, 32, Dudley Road, Halifax, was charged with misdemeanor assault and battery.

The offense allegedly occurred Saturday, and Sgt. Clark served the warrant Sunday.

• Jessalyn Mosley, 21, Osborne Lane, South Boston, was charged with misdemeanor breach of the peace.

The offense allegedly occurred Saturday, and Sgt. Clark served the warrant Sunday night.

• Dovie Perkins, 24, and Jason Perkins, 26, both of Indian Trail Road, Buffalo Junction, were charged with one count each of misdemeanor assault and battery.

The offenses allegedly occurred Saturday, and Sgt. Clark served both warrants Sunday night.

• Eric Daniel Wingard, 44, Alphonse Dairy Road, South Boston, was charged with misdemeanor assault and battery of a family or household member.
The offense allegedly occurred Thursday, and Deputy J. O. Tanner served the warrant that night.

• Autumn D. Wright, 32, Birch Court, South Boston, was charged with misdemeanor breach of the peace.

The offense allegedly occurred Saturday, and Sgt. Clark served the warrant Sunday night.

• Draper Lamont Davis, 30, Ball Park Loop, Halifax, was charged with misdemeanor driving on a suspended or revoked operator’s license.

The offense allegedly occurred April 27, and Deputy J. M. Burton served the warrant Monday.

• Chris Corey Foster, 47, Chatham Road, Halifax, was charged with felony being a habitual offender.

The offense allegedly occurred May 2, and Cpl. C. S. Yeatts served the warrant Thursday.

• Tonanishar Hill, 20, Black Walnut Road, Clover, was charged with misdemeanor contempt of court.

The offense allegedly occurred May 4, and Deputy T. B. Sargent served the warrant Monday.

In other law enforcement matters, sheriff’s deputies are investigating the theft of an L.P. gas tank, according to Sheriff Stanley Noblin.

• Ammar Natsheh reported someone stole a 250 gallon L.P. gas tank from some property he owns on Garrett’s Trail in Clover, Noblin said.
Deputy Adams is the investigating officer.

South Boston Man Found Not Guilty Of Trespassing

Joe Conner, 62, of Chamberlain Street, South Boston was found not guilty of misdemeanor trespassing in a case heard in Halifax County General District Court on April 26.
