Police: Vehicle, Stereo Stolen

Halifax Police officers are investigating a stolen car and stereo, according to Halifax Police Chief D. E. Martin.

Kevin Ross, 32, of Java reported Saturday afternoon his car was stolen while he was at the magistrate’s office, Martin said. The car, identified as a 1993 Plymouth Acclaim, was stolen just after 1 p.m. from Edmunds Boulevard, just east of Blue Ridge Lane, the chief said.

Halifax Police Lt. D. D. Irby responded to the scene to investigate Ross’ complaint, Martin said. The car was found at 2:11 p.m. on Cemetery Street with the stereo missing. The value of the unknown brand of stereo is $65, he added.

Vandals struck the former Halifax Elementary School building the latter part of last week, according to Halifax Lt. Irby.

Thursday at 8:42 p.m., Halifax Police Officer W. G. Yancey and Halifax County Sheriff’s Deputy W. G. Nunn responded to the former school building at 722 Mountain Road to investigate a report of vandalism, Irby said.

According to Yancey’s report, two mobile unit doors were found open with one of the doorjambs damaged.

Also, three windowpanes were broken on the east side of the building, and a pane was broken out of the building’s front door, the lieutenant said.
Officer Yancey estimated total damages at $100.

• In other law enforcement matters, Halifax County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating the theft of a lawn mower from a Mountain Road home, said Sheriff Stanley Noblin.

Wayne Mosley reported someone stole his Murray push-type lawn mower from beneath his shed sometime over the past few days, Noblin said.
The mower is red in color with a black Briggs and Stratton motor, he added.

Deputy J. P. Adams is the investigating officer.

• A 19-year-old Clover man is facing two felony charges, according to sheriff’s office records.

Andre Lloyd Ervin Jr. of North Main Street was charged with felony breaking and entering with intent to commit larceny. He also was charged with felony grand larceny.

The offenses allegedly occurred April 26, and Sgt. Q. W. Clark served the warrants Saturday.

• John Claiborne, 20, Huell Matthews Highway, Alton, was charged with two counts of misdemeanor assault by threats.

The offenses allegedly occurred Saturday, and Sgt. Clark served the warrants that night.

•  Howard Franklin Harris Jr., 38, Philpott Road, South Boston, was charged with misdemeanor assault by threatening bodily harm.

The offense allegedly occurred May 3, and Deputy Adams served the warrant Saturday.

• Terrence Lamont Faulkner, 29, Mt. Carmel Road, Alton, was charged with misdemeanor assault by threatening bodily harm.

The offense allegedly occurred May 3, and Deputy Adams served the warrant Saturday.

• Tiffany Latrice Faulkner, 23, Virgie Cole Road, South Boston, was charged with misdemeanor assault and battery.

The offense allegedly occurred May 3, and Deputy Nunn served the warrant Saturday.

• Tonya Lynette Roberts, 29, Bench Lane, Halifax, was charged with misdemeanor assault by threatening bodily harm.

The offense allegedly occurred May 3, and Deputy Nunn served the warrant Saturday.

• Raymond Eugene Hudson, 29, Birch-Elmo Road, South Boston, was charged with misdemeanor assault and battery of a family or household member.

The offense allegedly occurred April 24, and Deputy Adams served the warrant Saturday.

• James Frederick Lort, 44, Cluster Springs Road, South Boston, was charged with misdemeanor DWI-first offense.

The offense allegedly occurred Saturday, and Deputy Adams served the warrant the same day.

• Danny Louis Perkins, 31, Love Shop Park Road, South Boston, was charged with misdemeanor appearing in public in an intoxicated condition.

The offense allegedly occurred Sunday, and Cpl. P. C. Clayton served the warrant the same day.

• Alvin Eugene Crews, 46, Jeffress Boulevard, South Boston, was charged with misdemeanor appearing in public in an intoxicated condition.

The offense allegedly occurred Saturday, and Cpl. Clayton served the warrant the same day.

• Granville Steve Conner, 51, Love Shop Trailer Park Road, Halifax, was charged with misdemeanor appearing in public in an intoxicated condition.

The offense allegedly occurred Friday, and Deputy Adams served the warrant the same day.

• Ronald Alvin Waller, Robin Hood Road, South Boston, was charged with misdemeanor appearing in public in an intoxicated condition.

The offense allegedly occurred Friday, and Cpl. Clayton served the warrant the same day.
