Damages Heavy In Logging Truck Wreck

This car collided with a logging truck Thursday around 1:15 p.m. on Highway 501 at its intersection with Black Walnut Church Road in the Cluster Springs community.

The logging truck overturned spilling its load across the highway, blocking traffic for over an hour. Rescue personnel transported the female driver of the car to Halifax Regional Hospital. Both southbound lanes of Highway 501 were reopened, and one northbound lane remained shut down at 2:54 p.m., according to state police personnel. No further details of the crash were available as of press time Thursday.

Assisting at the scene were Sgt. T. L. Barksdale, Troopers P. W. Leath, K. R. Martin, T. C. Comer, J. R. Abbott and numerous sheriff’s deputies and other law enforcement officers. Trooper A. D. Dishman is the investigating officer.
