Student Winners Take Center Stage

It will be a night of recognitions tonight as the Halifax County School Board takes its act on the road once again to the Cluster Springs Early Learning Center. Tonight’s meeting gets under way at 7 in the school’s cafeteria, following the board members’ tour of the school.

School board member Devin Snead is expected to introduce Robert Michaels, McDonald’s All American High School Basketball Team nominee.

Also to be recognized tonight will be members of the VEX Robotics competition teams and their instructor Ricky Gordon, and HCHS masonry instructor Frederick Eily also is scheduled to present bricklaying contest winners to school board members.

Under the reports portion of tonight’s agenda, Deputy Superintendent Larry Clark is expected to offer a final H1N1 report to the board.

School board members are expected to approve the consent agenda which contains policy manual revisions, personnel and a long-term suspension report for February.

Under new business, Clark is expected to discuss a waiver request for pre-Labor Day opening requirements.

Chief Financial Officer Bill Covington is expected to give the monthly finance report to the board as well as report on payment of bills.

Following the moment of silence and the pledge of allegiance, Principal Priscilla Price will welcome school board members to the Cluster Springs Early Learning Center.

At the conclusion of tonight’s meeting, the board is scheduled to meet in closed session to discuss student discipline matters.
