Halifax Woman Faces Felony Rape, Sodomy Charges

A 35-year-old Halifax woman has been charged with four felony counts, including one count each of forcible rape and forcible sodomy, according to Halifax County Sheriff’s Office records.

Joynita Marie Smith of Pine Heights Trail also was charged with felony conspiracy and felony obstructing justice-resisting arrest in addition to the two felony sex charges.

The four offenses allegedly occurred Aug. 7, and Deputy T. H. Clarke served the warrants Thursday afternoon.

• Lorine Redd Beard, 72, Hall’s Trail, Halifax, was charged with the felony unauthorized use of a vehicle valued at $200 or more.

The offense allegedly occurred Thursday, and Deputy J. M. Burton served the warrant that night.

• Tyreik Laquan Lipscomb, 19, Bold Springs Road, South Boston, was charged with three misdemeanor counts, including assault and battery, brandishing a firearm and vandalism-damaging property belonging to another.

The three offenses allegedly occurred Oct. 13, and Deputy Clarke served the warrants Thursday.

• Kenneth Alvester Brooks, 39, North Main Street, South Boston, was charged with felony being a habitual offender. He also was charged with misdemeanor contempt of court.

The felony charge allegedly occurred Feb. 19 of last year, and the misdemeanor charge allegedly occurred Oct. 26.

Sgt. Q. W. Clark served both warrants Friday.

• William Michael White, 49, Ball Park Loop, Halifax, was charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana and misdemeanor trespassing upon property of another after having been forbidden to do so.

The offenses allegedly occurred Monday, and Sgt. D. H. Barksdale served the warrants that night.

• Stacey Devon Bartley, 44, Crescent Lane, Monroe, was charged with misdemeanor writing a bad check of less than $200.

The offense allegedly occurred Nov. 5, and Sgt. T. C. Spencer served the warrant Saturday.

•  Earl Watts, 76, James D. Hagood Highway, South Boston, was charged with trespassing upon property of another after having been forbidden to do so.
The offense allegedly occurred Monday, and Deputy Burton served the warrant that night.
