County Native Discovered In Richmond Pool

A Halifax native died early Thursday morning after being pulled from a swimming pool in Richmond, according to Henrico County police.

Paul Cabell Osborne was found floating face down in the swimming pool at American Family Fitness Center at 2:55 a.m. Thursday, said Henrico Police Lt. Eric Owens. The fitness center is located in the Short Pump area of Broad Street.

American Family Fitness Center staff members pulled the victim from the pool and began administering CPR, Owens said. EMS personnel took over when they arrived at the scene but were unable to resuscitate Osborne, the lieutenant added.

Owens said Osborne’s body was taken to the state medical examiner’s office, but police do not suspect foul play.

The 31-year-old Osborne was a 1997 graduate of Halifax County High School and a graduate of Longwood University, and he worked for ARC.

He was the son of former Halifax Mayor Dennis K. Osborne and Mary Archer Booker Osborne.

Funeral arrangements were incomplete as of press time Thursday.
