Library to talk service changes at special Wednesday meeting

The design of library services at Halifax County Public Library and South Boston Public Library could change.

The Halifax County South Boston Public Library System Board of Trustees will discuss the library services at their special called meeting to be held Wednesday at 5 p.m. at Halifax Public Library.

Halifax County Administrator Jim Halasz also will be present at the meeting.

First the board is slated to go over an overview of articles provided by Stephens.

The director has four articles from the research conducted by both the American Library Association and the Pew Research Center concerning the future of public library services.

Following the overview of articles, the board will discuss options for the future design of library services.

According to Library Director Jay Stephens the design of library services refers to how the library will provide and deliver services in the coming years.

This includes things such as the levels of technology that will be needed, staffing levels, facilities, etc.
