Four adults, one juvenile nabbed in Mi Carreta burglary

Four adults and a juvenile were arrested Friday in connection with a burglary that occurred early that morning at Mi Carreta located on Halifax Road in Centerville, according to South Boston Police Capt. B. K. Lovelace.

Arrest made after car fire

A 54-year-old South Boston man has been charged with manufacturing, possessing or using a fire bomb or explosive material or device following a car fire that occurred Thursday at American Pride on Wilborn Avenue in South Boston, according to South Boston Police Officer R. L. Lawson.

Out of the ‘Wild Blue’

Planning is in full swing for the upcoming Wild Blue River Festival to be held in the Town of Halifax on Sept. 13.  The festival got its inspiration from the nickname going around for the new Southern Virginia Wild Blueway. The Banister River, or Banister Blueway, is an integral part of the “Wild Blue.”  

Plans being finalized for Night Out

National Night Out will be held Tuesday, Aug. 5, in the Tuck Dillard Stadium at Halifax County Middle School. The parade will begin at 5:30 p.m., and the event will last until 8:30 p.m.
