New banners going up in downtown South Boston

Anyone traveling through downtown South Boston has seen the town’s new street banners that are going up this week. 

Cancer Association spaghetti fundraiser today

Halifax County Cancer Association will host a spaghetti supper fundraiser on Friday at American Legion Post 8 at 1710 Jeffress Blvd., in South Boston from 5 to 7 p.m. 

Author to host book signing at museum Friday

Lynchburg Author H. V. “Bo” Traywick Jr. will host a book signing for his book entitled “Empire of the Owls: Reflections On The North’s War Against Southern Succession” on Friday at 7 p.m. at the South Boston-Halifax County Museum in South Boston.

It’s busy for ‘Beehive’ backstage

Little Theatre’s “Beehive” is rocking The Prizery, and the show is amazing. It is evident that the band, the beautiful dancers and the talented divas have worked extremely hard to perfect every song and movement and tie things together seamlessly into an experience not to be missed.  

Benchmark Bank names new addition to board of directors

Benchmark Community Bank and its holding company, Benchmark Bankshares, have announced the addition of Dr. Alfred A. Roberts to its board of directors.  He attended his first meeting on April 17.

Mud run raises $3,000 in memory of Kim Bosiger

At least 46 women from the South Boston and Halifax County area formed Team Kim and participated in the annual Dirty Girl 5k Mud Run held in Chesapeake Saturday in honor of their family member and friend, the late Kim Bosiger.  Bosiger lost her battle with breast cancer in October.

Daystrom upgrades moving to final phase
