Additional dulcimer building class set

Due to the success of the “Build a Stick Dulcimer” class that took place on June 27 - 29 at the Southern Virginia Higher Education Center, The College for Life Long Learning will host an additional dulcimer class on Aug. 1-3.

Music event coming to Halifax Public Library

The Halifax Public Library System will host Rhythms ‘Round the World, a musical event for kids, on Monday at 6 p.m. 

Dan River Basin Association to paddle on upper Dan

The Dan River Basin Association will paddle on the upper Dan River in Kibler Valley near the Blue Ridge Parkway for its Aug. 4 First Saturday Outing. Meeting at 10 a.m. at 3127 Kibler Valley Road, participants will put in and take out on private property with the owners' permission.

Mecklenburg Electric Cooperative chairman retires

Robert W. (Bobby) Conner has retired from the board of directors of Mecklenburg Electric Cooperative (MEC) where he represented MEC members in Halifax County for 30 years and has held the position of board chairman for the past seven years.
