Tobacco committee OKs Green View funding request

The Tobacco Indemnification and Community Revitalization Commission’s Southside Economic Development Committee approved the Halifax Industrial Development Authority’s request for $1.3 million to improve the Green View Advanced Manufacturing Center (former Daystrom building) located at Green’s Folly, according to Halifax County Industrial Development Authority Executive Director Matt Leonard who attended the Thursday meeting in Roanoke.

River group plans Jan. 5 outing to Tanyard Creek in Ruffin, N.C.

The Dan River Basin Association’s First Saturday Outing on Jan. 5 will be a two-mile hike on a farm in Ruffin, N.C., to explore Tanyard Creek. Meeting at 10 a.m. at Happy Home School, participants in the outing will carpool to the site.
