A Murphy Express gas station/convenience store is in the works for a location on Old Halifax Road across from Walmart.

Virginia National Bank reports 2012 results

Virginia National Bank of Charlottesville reported net income of $3.776 million for the fourth quarter of 2012, or $1.41 per share for the three months ended Dec. 31. This result is a 266 percent increase in net income as compared to the three months ended Dec. 31, 2011, when net income was $1.033 million, or $0.38 per share. The return on average assets for the quarter ended Dec. 31, was 3.10 percent, as compared to 0.90 percent in the same period in 2011. 

Touring company comes to Prizery stage Tuesday

Walnut Street Theatre in Philadelphia is the state theatre of Pennsylvania.  The theatre opened in 1809, and soon after Thomas Jefferson and Marquis de Lafayette attended the opening night of “The Rivals.”  

SunTrust to close its branch office in Centerville

SunTrust customers received news this week the Centerville branch at 4027 Halifax Road in South Boston will close its doors May 24.
