New lofts complete; ribbon cutting, open house March 20

Construction of the New Brick Historic Lofts in South Boston is complete, and Rehab Development will host a ribbon cutting and open house celebration, which will include tours of the lofts, on Thursday, March 20, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Irish group coming to Prizery

Comfort Systems USA, Jill and Ryan Garrett along with The Prizery present Caladh Nua at the Prizery Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Caladh Nua, is a tightly-knit, vibrant and staggeringly talented band with its origins deeply rooted in the southern counties of Ireland. Comprised of five versatile musicians and singers playing a wide selection of instruments — from banjo to fiddle, guitar to bodhran and tin whistle to button accordion — the band has captured the essential qualities of traditional Irish music and balanced them finely with an innovative contemporary flair.

Stonewall Jackson is a name most folks recognize. But, they may not know many details about his role in the Civil War or his life.  That can be corrected by attending the program about Jackson to be presented by the South Boston/Halifax County Museum on Friday at 7 p.m.  

HCHS Class of 74 planning 40th reunion

Almost 10 years ago, former South Boston resident Michael Williams and class of ’74 alumni of Halifax County High School, left his home in St. Louis, Mo. to endure a 15-hour drive back to his alma mater for a 30th class reunion.

Wreath laying pays tribute to Crossing

One aspect of this modern version of the story features sensitive animals that help Cinderella cope with her bad situation and sometimes help with her transformation.
