Non-stop singing, comedy pumps audience

At some time in our lives, everyone wants to be a pirate. Last weekend lots of people got the chance and had a great time in the process. Halifax County Little Theatre opened their latest production “How I Became a Pirate” to enthusiastic audiences. Many of the younger patrons came in their finest pirate regalia, cutlasses in hand, to join in the festivities.  Judging from the smiles on their young faces as they left the theatre, the show was a complete success.

Tractors roll in prelude to fest

Organizers of the 10th Annual Halifax County Heritage and Antique Machinery Festival have set the date for their yearly Tractor Parade.

Delta Kappa Gamma members help with Kids Kollege

Parsons-Bruce Art Association is welcoming members of Phi Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma (DKG), a professional honorary society of women educators, as partners in implementing Kids Kollege this summer.

Student artists’ works on display at hospital

Soon to be exhibited at Halifax Regional Hospital are the works of a very talented group of Halifax County High School art and woodworking students. The community is invited to celebrate them and their works at a reception on Thursday at 7 p.m. in Leggett Auditorium.

Heritage Festival features mud

Rev up the engine, check out the tires and get ready to sling a little mud.  In cooperation with Sign Rock Mud Bog of Vernon Hill, the Halifax County Heritage and Antique Machinery Festival will present two big Mud Bog events the first weekend in May at the Halifax County Fairgrounds.

CONCERT CALENDAR: 'Soldiers of the Cross' to perform


• Halifax County High School, South Boston … Blessed Hope Halifax and the “Soldiers of the Cross” present Brian Free & Assurance live in concert April 19. Doors open at 6 p.m., concert starts at 7 p.m.  Admission is free, the sponsors just ask that everyone who has the means to bring two canned food items or a non-perishable item to jump start a new food ministry in the Town of Halifax.
