SVHEC plans open house April 21

The Southern Virginia Higher Education Center invites the community to Open House 2013 on Sunday, April 21, from 2-5 p.m. The Southern Virginia Higher Education Center’s main building and the SVHEC-Innovation Center will be open for tours, live demonstrations and information sessions.

Jobless figures tick up in Halifax County

The jobs outlook in Halifax County grew much bleaker at the start of the year in January, increasing 1.2 percent from the 8.7 percent rate in October and November and December to 9.9 percent, according to the latest Virginia Employment Commission data released Friday.
