Fundraiser set to help restore historic Halifax County boys home

In an effort to restore Sunnyview at Cluster Springs so that Patrick Henry boys will be able to return to “their home” before the beginning of school in the fall, a fundraising event has been scheduled for Thursday, June 27, from 5 to 8 p.m.

Training approval benefits jobless

The South Central Workforce Investment Board has approved the Southern Virginia Higher Education Center as a training provider for the Work Ready Foundations, a new short-term work readiness initiative. With this approval, eligible unemployed clients who enroll in Work Ready Foundations will have their tuition and fees paid for with Workforce Investment Act funds.

Beat the clock: Kickstarter campaign seeks $20,000 for The Prizery

Last year, Kickstarter surpassed the National Endowment for the Arts in the amount of money spent to underwrite “Art” projects in the United States.  The Prizery was one of those projects, raising $27,000 in 14 days using the online fundraising website.
