Re-enactment of Crossing of the Dan slated for Feb. 20-22

The Crossing of the Dan, a nearly forgotten episode of the American Revolution that occurred at South Boston, received recognition from the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution as a major historic event in the fall.   

County jobless rate continues to improve in November

The jobless rate in Halifax County continued to improve in November as residents continued to search for jobs, but the unemployment rate dropped below double digits.

Halifax Regional Hospital welcomes first baby of 2014

Michael Wade Brown, the first baby born at Halifax Regional Hospital in 2014, was welcomed by his mother, Regina Hogan, his 2-year-old brother, Trysten Brown, and newborn nursery nurse, Wanda Bolton, RN. 


As a Christian pastor, it is hard for me to separate the call to new life for the individual from the call to new life for the church.  They are one and the same.  So as we take a look at the new year from a Christian perspective, we will see twin aims which apply to both.

Artist Wyatt Ramsey’s work on display at The Prizery

County tourism gets $10,000

Halifax County Department of Tourism is among 42 local tourism initiatives to receive more than $750,000 in matching grants as part of Virginia Tourism Corporation’s (VTC) Marketing Leverage Grant program.
