‘The Nutcracker’ to be performed Saturday, Sunday at high school

“The Nutcracker” ballet is the story of a young girl’s enchanted romantic dream, and We’ve Got Rhythm Dance Academy will perform an abridged version of the ballet on Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Halifax County High School auditorium.

Regional Alliance awarded $50,000

Halifax County, as part of the Southern Virginia Regional Alliance, has been awarded $50,000, one of three awards totaling $200,000 for collaborative efforts in Virginia through the Building Collaborative Communities program, Gov. Bob McDonnell announced Wednesday.
