Music event coming to Halifax Public Library

The Halifax Public Library System will host Rhythms ‘Round the World, a musical event for kids, on Monday at 6 p.m. 

Dan River Basin Association to paddle on upper Dan

The Dan River Basin Association will paddle on the upper Dan River in Kibler Valley near the Blue Ridge Parkway for its Aug. 4 First Saturday Outing. Meeting at 10 a.m. at 3127 Kibler Valley Road, participants will put in and take out on private property with the owners' permission.

The “Build a Stick Dulcimer” class that took place on June 27-29 at the Southern Virginia Higher Education Center was a success. During the three-day course, instructor Clint Johnson taught three students, Henry Stevens, Neal Conner and Kenneth Cope, how to make a stick dulcimer from scratch.
