Christmas in the air at weekend show

Get that Christmas list ready. It is time. The 2013 Holiday Living Show is all set to go Saturday and Sunday at Halifax County High School. Saturday hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m.

Vendors are coming from near and far. Guests will see familiar faces among returning vendors, and many new vendors will be there to meet.

As show goers approach the school Saturday and Sunday, they will smell the enticing aroma of popcorn and see beautiful handmade furniture all the way from Hillsville.

Inside the school visitors will find crafts, pottery, furniture, metal works, arts and antiques.

Show goers will have an opportunity to check out the items made from tobacco sticks and knives being sold. They will also be able to stock up on Tupperware as well as Pampered Chef items. Representatives from Bath Fitters and a Rainbow vacuum cleaner dealer will be at the Holiday Living Show too.

Also for sale will be baked and canned items including cakes, pumpkin rolls, candies, cookies, pickles, preserves, local honey and the list goes on.

Guests are encouraged to get that special dessert, and if he or she can wait to eat it, they can freeze it for the upcoming holiday season.

Show goers also will have opportunities to sample the many dips available and make purchases for holiday entertaining.

Craft items will be available including wreaths, floral arrangements, hand-sewn items, scarves, pocketbooks, throws, handmade ornaments, fused and stained glass, lighted and decorated bottles, hand painted glass items and wood-crafted items.

Guests will be able to look over a selection of jewelry, some of which is crafted from vintage pieces and maybe even select a Christmas gift for themselves.

Cosmetic representatives will be on site to provide skin care advice and products, and goat soaps and lotions will be available for purchase. Also, candles will be available from several dealers.

The Holiday Living Show is sure to have something for everyone. The public is invited to come check out the many vendors. It is an excellent time to start Christmas shopping and a fun time for seeing old friends and making new ones. So, get a group and come to the show.

The Business Women’s Association of Halifax County sponsors the show, and all proceeds are used for the benefit of educational scholarships for youth going to college. Admission is $2. Children under 10 get in free.
