Whatever your style, abstract or realistic, the new art exhibit at the South Boston/Halifax County Museum will please one’s artistic taste.
As the inaugural art show in the new South Gallery, the Puryear/Caldwell Family Art Exhibit presents a roomful of art from four local artists: Phyllis Puryear, Betty Caldwell--the painters, and Phil and Wade Puryear-- the carvers.
Phyllis’ works came from what she observed around her. She painted scenes from farm life and nature. Betty’s works are more wide-ranging with impressions and abstracts among them. The men create carvings of birds and creatures seen around the county.
All are combined in this show, the brainchild of museum volunteer Charlotte Tetterton. Come meet the artists and enjoy their creations in the welcoming new gallery at the museum on Sunday, July 7, from 2 to 3:30 p.m.
The museum is open Wednesday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
