Bloodmobile makes stops in county

The Red Cross Bloodmobile will be set up at the American Legion, Post 8 on Jeffress Blvd., South Boston on Monday from 1:30 to 7 p.m.,  and on Tuesday from noon until 6 p.m., the Bethel Community Ruritan Club will sponsor the Halifax community drive set up at the Mary Bethune gym in Halifax.

Donors, volunteers and recipients can inspire others by sharing what blood donation means to them via, using social media or by handwriting their story on a summer postcard available in the donor refreshment areas at the drive.

Handwritten stories will be posted in donation centers for others to see.

To encourage donations near summer holidays, all presenting blood and platelet donors will have a chance to win an American Express Gift Card.  From July 1-15 five $3,000 gift cards will be available for Independence Day and from Aug. 26-Sept. 9 five $1,000 gift cards will be available for Labor Day.

Visit for details.

The Bethel Community Ruritans, the Red Cross, Bloodmobile volunteers and this newspaper extend thanks for helping spread the word about the need for summer donors. Blood donors at the Monday and Tuesday blood drives will receive a complimentary American Red Cross ball cap.
