High school horticulture plant sale starts Tuesday

Halifax County High School horticulture department’s spring cool season plant sale starts Tuesday. Customers are welcome during school hours from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Plants that are available in four packs for a $1 each include lettuce (leaf), mustard, pansy and strawberries.                                  

Houseplants available for sale include aloe vera ($1.99), ficus trees ($1–$7.99 perfect for bonsai), banana trees ($19.99); ferns (small $6, large $12), hanging baskets (small $6, large $8), wondering Jew, Swedish ivy, geraniums (red $2.99 each), Concord grape $2.99 and better boy tomato (24” tall $1 each).

Warm season vegetables and flowers in four packs for $1 each include better boy tomatoes, marigolds (yellow and orange), salvia vista, coleus, delphinium magic, lavender, Sweet William, daisy Marconi, poppy, monada bee red, basket of gold, archillea yarrow, American thrive, celosia, inpatients, dianthus, petunias, begonias and foxglove.

Supplies are limited, first come first served.

Customers should enter Halifax County High School through the service entrance near the tennis courts off North Main Street and park in front of the greenhouse.
