Are you looking for a unique gift this holiday season? Something more than a trinket or bauble that will soon be broken, lost or forgotten? Many families and individuals are choosing to forgo the usual gift giving and are looking for other ways to honor or remember loved ones. Halifax Regional Hospital’s Tree of Love is one such opportunity.
Located on the wall across from the Wishing Well Gift Shop, The Tree of Love is sponsored and maintained by the Halifax Regional Hospital Auxiliary and is a simple and lovely way for the community to honor and memorialize friends and loved ones.
“Purchasing a leaf for the Tree of Love is a beautiful way to show love and respect to those who we care about and to those who have gone on before us,” said Halifax Regional Hospital Auxiliary President Larry Davis. “Placing a leaf on the tree is comforting to people, knowing that it is a gift that will remain bright and visible for more than a lifetime.”
Proceeds from the Tree of Love are used for auxiliary programs to benefit the hospital and the communities it serves.
Each leaf of the tree can be engraved with up to four lines of type, to honor or memorialize an individual or family. The cost of each leaf is $100. When a purchase is made in someone’s name, that individual or their family will receive a card of acknowledgement to inform them of the gift.
Order forms are available in the Wishing Well Gift Shop, open Monday through Friday from 9 to 5 and on Sundays, Dec. 2, 9 and 16, from noon to 4 p.m.
Forms also are available from the Halifax Regional Hospital volunteer coordinator at 434-517-3133.
