The Halifax County Historical Society is planning an “Heirlooms and Antiques Auction” on Saturday, Nov. 3.
The proceeds will be used to help fund the publishing of an architectural history of the county.
To make this evening a success, the society has and continues to solicit items for the event. A piece of furniture or an old book or painting that one doesn’t have room for may be just the item(s) the society needs for the auction.
The public is asked to search their attics for an old chair or bed, mirror, lamp, silver, jewelry, china, pottery, rugs, old woodworking tools or an interesting item of Halifax County memorabilia.
“Do not be limited by size or scope. We will arrange to pick up your donations,” said Barbara Bass, president of the historical society.
The society is a non-profit organization, and donations are tax deductible.
“Please consider our request for items,” Bass said.
“Do not delay. We need items as quickly as possible in order to have everything appraised at no cost to the donor. Please watch the local newspapers for more information,” Bass said.
