Halifax County superintendent pays visit to Digispired students

Halifax County Superintendent Dr. Merle Herndon visited the Digispired students during their two week Summer Academy on Wednesday, July 25, at the Southern Virginia Higher Education Center.

The students shared with Herndon their progress on Unity 3D software which is a multi-platform gaming engine the students are using to create 3D games.

The Digispired program is funded by a grant from the National Science Foundation and is sponsored by Longwood University’s Institute for Teaching Through Technology and Innovative Practices (ITTIP) in South Boston.

The Digispired program was designed to inspire high schoolers to investigate science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) areas.

Students who participate in the local Digispired program are from Halifax, Charlotte and Mecklenburg counties.
