Halifax Regional recognizes spirit of Planetree Caregiver of the Year

And the winner is…Rosa Skipwith. On Monday, May 7, in coordination with National Hospital Week, Rosa Skipwith was named 2012 Spirit of Planetree Caregiver of the Year.

Skipwith is a certified nursing assistant at MeadowView Terrace. She was hired in 2002 and is approaching her 10-year anniversary with Halifax Regional Health System this August.

The purpose of the Spirit of Planetree Employee Recognition Program is to establish an employee rewards and recognition program that supports Halifax Regional’s Core Values and Planetree Philosophy while creating a culture of genuine appreciation health system wide.

Employees are nominated by their coworkers, supervisor, manager or others within the organization.

Nomination forms are reviewed each month by the employee recognition committee made up of representatives from across the health system. The committee then makes the monthly caregiver selections as well as the annual caregiver selection.

Before Skipwith was selected as Annual Caregiver of the Year, she was selected as the December 2011 Caregiver of the Month. One of the two nomination forms stated, “Rosa is loved by all staff members, residents and is like a mother to all of us here at the facility. She is a very loving, caring and hard working person and is very much appreciated by everyone.”

The second nomination stated, “Rosa always forms a relationship with her residents and their families. She has a natural ability to learn about these people through her caring attitude and approach.”

Skipwith  will receive recognition at the next board of directors and leadership team meetings, her very own parking space at MeadowView Terrace, a monogrammed HRHS jacket, a $1,000 bonus, recognition throughout Halifax Regional Hospital System and a trip to the 2012 Planetree Annual Conference in Palm Desert, California.
