WoodLINKS students lighting up competition

Three Halifax County High School students in the WoodLINKS dual enrollment program at the Southern Virginia Higher Education Center (SVHEC) have been selected to compete in the WoodLINKS USA/International Woodworking Fair (IWF) competition this August. Students in the SVHEC WoodLINKS program have had consecutive entries to this national competition.

Grant helps train Presto employees

The Dan River Region Collaborative (DRRC) granted a request from Presto for $63,000 to finance training efforts implemented through the Workforce Readiness Initiative. American National Bankshares Inc., parent company of American National Bank and Trust Company, announced first quarter 2012 net income of $4,175,000 compared to $1,778,000 for the first quarter of 2011, a $2,397,000 or 135 percent increase.
